" For God gave all not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline... He who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal; For which cause I suffer also these things: yet I am not ashamed; for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed unto him until that day. " (2 Tim 1:7, 9, 12)
Fear is a trick. It is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. It is a tool of the Adversary, the demon Satan. He uses it to control and weaken you. But the Holy Spirit is your strength and defense against such a worker of iniquity. The Adversary has no power over you that you do not give him. Therefore, you should never be afraid. You have found the protection of the Savior to be a genuine fortress in the day of evil.
There is a great composure that comes when the Holy Spirit lives in you, especially in turbulent times. Times you may face throughout life, but particularly in the end of days. Consider what the Holy Spirit did in history. He came upon the virgin chosen to bear the Christ child. She was overcome with great fear, as the messenger of God spoke to her, telling her of the miracle she was to know. Then, "... the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God. " The Power of the Holy Spirit causes miracles to be and then, to prosper!
When the beloved physician, Luke, wrote Acts, he spoke prominently of the power of the Holy Spirit's ability to change fearful things into blessings. The hearers of Luke's words were reminded that, previously, they wondered about the restoration of Israel, to which Luke recounted the Lord's words: It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within His own authority.
But you shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:7-8) Through His witnesses, the power of the Holy Spirit would bring the grace to testify of the Lord's work on earth. That same witness is still with YOU, here, now. It is the love of the Lord which inspires you to confess His Holy Name and witness throughout the world, without fear (even though sometimes, there is great uneasiness...do it anyway, for it shall be counted as righteousness unto you).
Discipline yourself to know where your power comes from. It comes not from your own efforts, but by the Holy Spirit that resides within you, as children of the Most High, and joint heirs in Christ Jesus. Your flesh is weak and given to doubt and fear; His Witness (the Holy Spirit) is strong and works wonders within you, to do that which you were meant to do: Proclaim the Lord's Name and the Glorious Life which is in Christ Jesus, that the world may know the freedom from fear!!!
This world is absolutely desperate to control you!! But remember that God controls and supplies your eternal life and there is NOTHING that this world can bring against you that His Power cannot subdue. Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
