Be assured, if you have no other enemies, the devil and his demons are all the enemies you’ll ever need. You can’t outlive them in human years or outwit them but in Christ, you can outlast them if you stand firm in your faith and resist them. So you need not still battle with the same thoughts and feelings that you had before you became a Christian. “You are human, but you don’t wage war with human plans and methods” (2 Cor. 10:3). You still live in the world, but you don’t go to war as the world does. There is the problem; the battle for your mind cannot be won using the same thinking you had before you accepted Christ. YET YOU STILL TRY TO WIN THE BATTLE FOR YOUR MIND THE SAME WAY YOU ALWAYS DID. When you became a Christian no one put your old way of thinking into the “recycle bin” and then permanently deleted it. Everything you learned through life and all the feelings that came along with it are still programmed into your mind even after you accepted Christ as your savior. The battle for your mind continues to this day. Your thoughts can still conform to the pattern of the world; your thinking can still be skewed. “Conform no longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). Your thinking has to be reprogrammed; you have been given the mind of Christ only now you need to learn to use it.
