Do you know God is watching you?

Do you know God is watching you? Do you feel that God sees what you are doing? Most of the time you forget about it and you are not conscious of God watching, unless things get tough. But let stressful times come, and then, suddenly, you are aware that God is watching.

Ever feel like Job after all of Job’s losses, after his prayers and his pleas seemed to find no answer, suddenly He is aware that God is watching. He is troubled at what it means for God to watch him. Job wonders whether God no longer cares, but just wants to make him miserable. Job wonders if maybe God is out to get him. Job’s question: “Oh, God, does it seem good for you to make my life miserable?

God seeks you, but in love. God watches your sin, but to guide you. It is to urge you to turn elsewhere. It is to move you from fruitless pursuit to positive productivity. Job says, “I know you are watching.” But you need to be sure you understand that God watches with the eyes of love and encouragement, and not with a heart of ridicule. Job said: Lord, you’ve taken care of me all along. Can’t you do it again? Can’t you rescue me? Can’t you just lift me and let me stand on higher ground?

But Job discovered that God does not do that. God does not rescue you from your own mistakes. God watches but does not step in on your timetable, at your command. God watches you, yes, but God does not rescue you from your own foolish pride or your own selfish arrogance. God does not override your freedom. Instead God equips you. He empowers you. He provides for you resources to use. God refuses to violate your freedom, but puts at your disposal the things you need for a productive life.

Don’t expect God to reach out of heaven and do for you what you would not do for yourself. Do not sit back and dare God to rescue you when He has already provided you with resources. Yes, God is watching. He is watching in love, and is watching to see if you will be responsible with what He has given you. You must trust that He accepts you and loves you. He expects you to take Him at His word, to abandon your anxieties and your fears. Trust Him and He will partner with you. Doubt Him and He will watch and watch for He wants your trust.
