With most appointments, you can cancel it but not the appointment that is spoken of in the Bible. This appointment is written in stone. It is a done deal. And this appointment that is carved in stone was written even before you were born. You see you had an appointment with God that was decided and written in stone before you were even born. God knows the exact date, of your appointment. And God does not make mistakes. God is perfect in every way; your appointment is already scheduled. Your appointment will be right on time because God scheduled it.
So you should know that you have One Appointment which is etched in stone but also know that you only have One Death. Death is something that no one can really explain. “What will life after death be like?” The not knowing about the things of Heaven begins to show you how little control you have and that brings fear. So with death you see that it cannot be explained, it causes fear, and also it only occurs once. Death does not happen by accident. It is planned. It is written in stone. In the Bible it says: there is a season or a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
You need to understand that with this One Appointment and One Death you only have One Chance. You have one chance to get right with God. This life is your one chance. Tomorrow is not promised (2nd Corinthians 6:2). Understand that death is awaiting you, Tomorrow is not promised and that is why this life is your one chance to get it together and get right with God. To get it right with God you need to come to a place where you understand that you do not meet the standards set forth by God. His standard is Perfection. You say I can’t be perfect and you’re right. But God’s Son Jesus Christ is perfect, and He had taken away your sins when you believed in Him, when you acknowledged that you were a sinner and that you were in need of Jesus as your Savior. And when you received Christ the fear that is accompanied with death will no longer be in you because you understand that you will be with God in Heaven. There is no longer the fear of not knowing.
Know that you have One Appointment, One Death, and One Chance to get it right with God. This life is where the rubber meets the road. This is where it comes down to the wire. This life is like the Super Bowl, 4th quarter 2 minute warning and you are on the opposing teams 20 yard line. Like your life this is the Last Chance to win the Super Bowl by scoring a touchdown within two minutes. You are but moments before you stand in front of the RIGHTEOUS ONE.
