Beat down those things that control your mind.

You are in the fight of your life and the Lord is always calling you to a conquest. In this passage, the greatest enemy of the soul is often yourself. You will have to be very hard on your flesh to make your body your slave. 1 Corinthians 9:27 and remember Therefore, you are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. Romans 8:12

Colossians 3:5-8 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: [6] For such things the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience: [7] The things all have walked at one time, when you lived in them. [8] But now put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

You can master yourself through the Spirit, and beat down those things that control your mind and thoughts, then half of the battle has been fought and you are shortly on the way to a victory.

• Every revival begins with one person! • Every social change begins with one person! • Every spiritual reform begins with one person! • Decide to pray! • Decides to fast! • Decides to worship! • Determines to make a difference! • Decides to quit making up excuses! • Determine to go beyond your failings! • Determine to conquer those feelings, lusts, failures, and dilemmas that control you!

Sometimes you have to say to yourself, “I am better than this! I may have disappointed God and myself, but by the grace of God, I am going to be better and change!” I am going to master this thing that keeps dragging me down into the gutter! You may have felt like the circumstances of life since Childhood has controlled your destiny. Even into your adult life when you’ve made poor choices and keep looking back to your childhood and try to pin the responsibility there. This is not the case, for you have been redeemed, step out of that kind of mindset.

All God’s children have trouble . . . but you can ill-afford to let trouble control who you are and what you will do for the Lord and your world. Scripture says: “Your body, your thoughts, your dreams, and your desires must become your slaves. You can control them instead of them controlling you. You will have to learn how to take a punch. For you won’t walk through this fight without absorbing some blows.
